new beginnings

A new year, a new website and, for me, a whole new life. After 45 years of practicing as

a Clinical Psychologist, I am taking a big leap and returning to my first love – art. This

decision has ushered in a new level of energy and joy, which is reflected in this new

work. Many are “do overs”, which seems somehow apt. We change all the time, as

does the world around us, so why not change old paintings that no longer work or speak to me?

The sense of newfound freedom I am experiencing is depicted in these colorful

paintings that have taken off in a new and unexpected direction. For years I have been

painting very abstractly. Some of the paintings suggest a landscape, as I am deeply

influenced by the natural world. Yet, since making this decision, big, bright florals have

emerged.

For me, painting is a process of discovery. I never know what will emerge and am often

surprised and delighted by the results. It is as if the paint and I are in a conversation. I

made a mark or choose a color and then respond to it. Like any good conversation it

wanders and eventually gets to the heart of things. I hope they speak to you. Let me

know!
